“I am writing to express my extreme level of satisfaction and gratitude to the good people at R&V Works. I purchased their Cajun Seafood Boiler from a Buc-ees store in Texas a little over a year ago. I love this Seafood Boiler because of its efficient design and wonderfully intuitive user interface, making it much easier to use for a small backyard crawfish boil than my large 120 quart King Kooker pots. A few weeks ago, the boiler malfunctioned during a backyard crawfish boil. Suffice it to say that the malfunction was caused solely as a result of “user error” and not some manufacturing defect or other problem with the boiler itself. Somewhere along the way, Scott McKimmey—National Sales Manager for R&V Works heard about my mishap and called me to inquire about the details. Scott’s genuine concern about my satisfaction with their products was apparent from the outset. He seemed utterly unconcerned about the self-inflicted nature of the boiler malfunction or even how long ago I had purchased the product, and much more concerned about getting me a new Cajun Seafood Boiler, free of charge. He was also genuinely concerned with how he and the company could improve upon their design and therefore protect me (and other consumers) from experiencing any level of dissatisfaction with their products in the future. Within 4 days of our initial conversation, Mr. McKimmey had located a new Cajun Seafood Boiler from one of his distributors (these boilers are in high demand!), assembled the Boiler himself by hand, and personally delivered in to my residence at a time that was convenient for me—all completely free of charge.
Wow!!! I cannot fully explain how refreshing that entire exchange was for me. It fundamentally changed my opinions on customer service in the modern age. It is still possible to truly care about your customer and have genuine pride in your craftsmanship, and R&V Works is the best support for that proposition that I know of today. In the age of Amazon Prime, free delivery and lowest price is promoted above all other qualities in retail sales. But, R&V Works stands behind the bygone principle that customer satisfaction and high quality craftsmanship should be the driving forces behind any viable retailer, and at least for me, I’ll take that over low-cost every day of the week. Why? Because it is lasting and better for the consumer in the long run. Sure, I could buy a cheaper seafood boiler from a big box store and replace it every 2 or 3 years with newer, cheaper products that are manufactured in China. Or, for a little more, I could purchase the equivalent product from R&V Works, manufactured in good ole’ Louisiana, and never have to worry again about the equipment or the customer service that stands behind that equipment after the sale. So, when I need a new fryer, I will purchase R&V Works’ Cajun Fryer (and BTW, I just did). When I need a new smoker, I will purchase the R&V Works Cajun Express Smoker. And, when I need a new gas BBQ grill, I will purchase R&V Works’ Smokin’ Cajun Grill. That way, I will be able to rest easy knowing that, just like my Cajun Seafood Boiler, I will never have to worry about purchasing replacements. Do yourselves a favor, and consider following suit!”
